One thing I have noticed since forwarding my domain email to both Yahoo! and Comcast email accounts is that both of them tend to silently block/discard the majority of real spam rather than passing it on to my junk/spam folders (and Comcast seems to do it even more than Yahoo!). Fortunately, since my MX records no longer point to the Comcast Business Class email hosting service, it no longer matters. I still have dozens of email forwarding addresses that are stuck in limbo (and didn't work when the hosting account was active).and they can't be deleted by me or by Comcast support (I have had BCI support try to delete them, and they temporarily disappear, but then come back again).
One exception I had with using ISP email, was when I briefly decided to use the Comcast Business Class email hosting service.that was a disaster. Does that mean that there is a potential for legitimate email to be silently destroyed? Yes it probably does but personally, I have not heard (by means other than email) from any email correspondent that any email they had sent to me was not received. I think that practice may be why some Comcast customers think that Comcast is not filtering spam since they don't actually see the amount of spam that both Comcast and Yahoo! destroy before their customers even see it. I am talking about them eliminating hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of spam emails a day that I used to have to filter locally (using my bandwidth and CPU time) when I ran my own email servers for multiple domains. I decided to forward all of my domain email to Comcast email boxes (instead of the AT&T/Yahoo! email boxes that I had been using) just in case the Verizon Yahoo! assimilation (unintentionally?) screws up the att.net and email. Both the, and my domain, will go with me even if I switch to Comcast.I have done pretty much the same thing (forwarding my domain email to ISP hosted accounts instead of operating my own mail servers), except recently I started forwarding all of my domain email to email boxes on an old Comcast residential account (an account that I closed even before I closed my old AT&T and BellSouth DSL accounts.but Comcast also allowed me to keep the email account). And my new ISP,, allows me to set up domain email aliases so I use their servers for my domain email. As a result, when I left AT&T, I was able to convert my email to Yahoo! accounts keeping the "" domain part.
Fascinating thing is, AT&T outsources their email to Yahoo!.
